Course Description

Your organization's environmental management system (EMS) depends on auditors who understand not just the requirements, but the intent behind them. This 3-day course equips your team members with the competency to conduct effective internal audits of ISO 14001:2026, ensuring your EMS stays aligned with the standard and delivers real environmental performance across your operations. 

Through a combination of standard exploration, practical case studies, and hands-on audit scenarios, utilizing ISO 19011:2026 as the basis, participants develop critical thinking and communication skills that separate auditors who check boxes from auditors who drive improvement. You will leave with a clear understanding of the standard's clauses, the ability to assess compliance and effectiveness, and the confidence to conduct audits that matter. 

NOTE: A copy of ISO 14001: 2026. It is required. Participants are expected to come with their own copies of the standards; reference copies will be on loan during the course but will not be included in the materials. A copy of ISO 19011:2026 is also recommended, but not required

This course is designed for team members designated by your organization to conduct internal audits of your environmental management system. This includes quality professionals, environmental coordinators, operations supervisors, compliance specialists, and cross-functional team members responsible for ensuring your EMS meets ISO 14001:2026. No prior audit experience is required; this course builds competency from the ground up.

Day 1: Principles and Process Approach

  • Introduction to the ISO 14001 Framework and the intent of environmental management systems
  • Process Approach: Understanding how your EMS works as an integrated system
  • Exploring the standard: Sections (1-5)

Day 2- Exploration of the Standard (Clauses 6–10)

  • Clause exploration (6-10)
  • Audit skills

Day 3- Auditing according to ISO 19011:2026

  • Audit Planning and Execution: Practical scenarios, audit trails, and documentation

Certification

Completion of all three days of the course fulfills your facility's internal auditor qualification requirements for ISO 14001:2026. Participants must attend all sessions and actively engage in case studies and audit exercises. Upon completion, participants are qualified to conduct internal audits of your organization's environmental management system.
