International Automotive Oversight Bureau (IAOB)

Requalification and continual development of the global IATF 16949 Auditor Community

The IAOB (International Automotive Oversight Bureau) is one of five global oversight offices of the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) that manages the third-party quality management auditing system representing over 70,000 automotive suppliers, 41 certification bodies (CBs), and over 2,000 auditors worldwide. As part of a 2007 initiative to reduce cost and improve global consistency, the IATF sought a web-based approach to requalify the global auditor community and to support continuous auditor development going forward.

The IAOB (on behalf of the IATF) has been working with Plexus International since 2008 to design, build, deploy, and continue to grow this global solution known as the IATF Auditor Development Process (ADP), which enables the following:

  • Online platform for collaborative web-based training and assessment development
  • Content development partnership between IATF global training development teams and Plexus trainers/developers
  • Translation management system to ensure alignment and consistency across 13 languages
  • Integrated online payment and subscription management systems
  • Integrated scheduling of global proctored assessment sessions
  • Customized workflow to support complete auditor lifecycle (from initial registration through qualification and beyond)
  • Continuing Personal Development (CPD) tracking and management (including minimum requirements with reminder workflows)
  • Fine-grained administrative permissions for multiple stakeholders (oversight offices, certification bodies, proctored assessment venues, etc.) ensuring confidentiality and GDPR compliance
